Las Vegas Travel Guide

Hotels | Dining | Attractions | Transportation | Shopping |  Real Estate |  Weddings
Las Vegas, incorporated in 1911, was founded by railroad workers and ranchers and it soon discovered that its greatest quality was its casinos. In just a little over 100 years it has become the Entertainment Capital of the World.

Come to Las Vegas to be pampered in its world-class hotels & resorts and its top-notch gambling in one of the four distinct areas of Las Vegas...

- 'The Strip' is located on 3.5 miles of Las Vegas Boulevard. There are more than 70,000 hotel rooms to be found along this stretch, in some of the world's largest casinos and resorts. Here you can find extreme-themed hotels, such as an erupting volcano at The Mirage, colossal dancing water fountains at The Bellagio, pyramids and sphinxes at The Luxor, a skyscraper facade at New York New York, and architecture to match the Doge's Palace and the Rialto Bridge at The Venetian.

- 'Off the Strip' is a bit quieter where you can find larger hotel rooms and a more relaxed atmosphere with more luxury for the dollar. Check out Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, M Resort, The Platinum Hotel and Spa and The Palms Hotel and Casino if you are looking for a place to stay in Las Vegas away from the hustle and bustle.

- 'Downtown' is also known as 'Old Vegas' or 'Glitter Gulch'. This area tends to be less expensive and quieter, and draws an older crowd. A few of Downtown Las Vegas hotels and casinos include: The Golden Nugget, Golden Gate Hotel and Casino, The D Las Vegas Casino Hotel, El Cortez Cabana Suites, and Downtown Grand.

- Las Vegas suburbs such as Henderson and Summerlin have more laid-back casino hotels and resorts and beautiful backdrop scenery such as Lake Las Vegas in Henderson and Red Rock Canyon in Summerlin. The best hotels bets in Henderson are SpringHill Suites, TownePlace Suites by Marriott, Railroad Pass Hotel and Casino and Hawthorn Suites. Summerlin hotels include Hampton Inn and Suites, La Quinta Inn and Suites, and Courtyard by Marriott.
